A price increase for the Galaxy S25 Ultra seems inevitable, at least in some regions. Multiple sources report that Samsung’s production costs for the device have risen significantly compared to the S24 Ultra. To maintain a healthy profit margin, the company will likely need to raise prices. However, it might keep the price unchanged in certain markets, such as China and the US.
Galaxy S25 Ultra could cost more in some markets
According to a Weibo leaker, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s bill of materials is at least $110 more than the S24 Ultra. The report doesn’t break down the entire cost, but rumors suggest Qualcomm raised the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s price by around $40. Alongside the chipset, the prices of the display panel, camera sensors, and several other internal components have also reportedly increased this year.
This is a significant jump in the production cost and Samsung can’t take such a huge hit to its profit per unit. The company will increase prices to secure healthy profits. It may choose not to do that globally depending on the existing profit margin and competition. For example, Samsung faces stiff competition in the Chinese market, so it might keep prices unchanged there.
A separate source previously hinted that the Galaxy S25 series could cost the same as its predecessor in the US. The Korean firm increased the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s price by $100 to $1,299, while the base S24 and S24+ saw no change, starting at $799 and $999, respectively. If the recent rumors turn out to be true, these may remain the starting prices for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in the US.
