Galaxy S25 Ultra Doesnโ€™t Need 5A Cable For Super Fast Charging 2.0

Samsungโ€™s latest Galaxy S25 series is now officially available everywhere. Pre-orders have wrapped up, which means the Galaxy S25 series is now on store shelves. If you missed out on the pre-order window, you can still pick up your choice of the Galaxy S25, S25+, or S25 Ultra. All models are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy and come with 12GB of RAM. Plus, they all run Android 15-based One UI 7.0 right out of the box.

After spending a few weeks with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, weโ€™ve noticed that it charges faster than the S24 Ultra, even though both phones are rated to charge at up to 45W wired. The S25 Ultra supports a 15V/3A charging profile alongside the 9V/2.77A. A bit of physics, yeah.

You donโ€™t need a separate 5A cable for high charging speeds on the Galaxy S25 Ultra

One big perk is that you can now use the included cable to get the fastest charging speeds. So, you donโ€™t need to buy a special cable. Earlier, some Galaxy Ultra users had to rely on third-party 5A-rated cables to hit the highest charging speeds, but the Galaxy S25 Ultra makes things simpler. Thanks to its 15V/3A charging profile, the USB-C cable that comes in the box is all you need to reach those peak speeds.

Samsungโ€™s Super Fast Charging 2.0 still requires a compatible 45W charger, but thereโ€™s no need to stress about whether your cable can handle 5A current flow. Thatโ€™s because the 15V/3A profile delivers the same power without needing a high-amperage cable. In comparison, the S24 Ultra used an 11V/4.05A or 9V/2.77A charging profile, which often meant needing a 5A-rated cable to get the full charging speed.

In our tests, the Galaxy S25 Ultra consistently charged from 0 to 100% in under an hour using Samsungโ€™s 45W charger and the included cable. To be fair, thatโ€™s not a huge leap over the previous model. However, it does make for a more seamless experience since users donโ€™t have to search for a specific cable to get peak charging speeds. Samsung has definitely optimized its power delivery system to make fast charging a lot more user-friendly.
