Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra absolutely crushed the iPhone 16 Pro Max in a speed test conducted by popular YouTuber PhoneBuff. The new Samsung flagship emerged as the fastest smartphone ever, completing the automated tasks in a record time. This impressive feat underscores the new performance benchmark Samsung has established in the smartphone industry.
Galaxy S25 Ultra is substantially faster than iPhone 16 Pro Max, speed test reveals
PhoneBuff is known for its automated smartphone speed test where a robotic arm is programmed to open a series of apps and games before reopening them in reverse order. This test gives us a fair idea of a phone’s speed and performance. The faster it completes the task, the more reliable and smoother its performance. Thus speed test also helps compare the performance of two competing phones.
Last year, the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the iPhone 16 Pro Max played out a draw, completing the task in identical times. However, Samsung pulled ahead with a massive lead this year. The Galaxy S25 Ultra finished the first round in 2 minutes and 18 seconds. The iPhone 16 Pro Max finished 15 seconds later, clocking a time of 2 minutes and 33 seconds to open the same set of apps.
In the second round, where the same 16 apps are reopened in reverse order, the iPhone benefitted from having to make fewer double swipes. It took 48 seconds to do the job against the Galaxy’s 48 seconds. This is still a huge win for the Samsung flagship. The Galaxy S25 Ultra took the lead within the first two apps and never looked back. It comfortably outperformed the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Even the OnePlus 13 outperformed the latest iPhone in PhoneBuff’s speed test. The new OnePlus flagship completed the first round in 2 minutes and 23 seconds and the second round in 49 seconds. It still failed to go as fast as the Galaxy S25 Ultra despite having more RAM. The Galaxy S25 Ultra comfortably cemented its place as the fastest smartphone on the market right now.
