Galaxy S25 Series Won’t Miss Out on Now Bar’s Media Player for Long

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series ships with One UI 7.0 from day one, but it does miss some features, one of which is the Media Player in the Now Bar. That’s only available in the One UI 7.0 beta build on the Galaxy S24. Yeah, that’s definitely a bit of a disappointment that the latest Galaxy S25 lineup misses out on this feature. Thankfully, they won’t be missing out on it for long, according to a tip from a noted insider.

Galaxy S25 will soon receive the Now Bar’s media player integration in the status bar

According to noted tipster Ice Universe, the “next firmware update” for the Galaxy S25 series will include several official One UI 7.0 features, including the media player in the Now Bar. The tipster also shared a 15-second clip showcasing the buttery smooth animations.

In One UI 7 beta for the Galaxy S24, the Now Bar can be minimized into a small, pill-shaped interactive button in the status bar, allowing you to tap it and open the media player widget. Meanwhile, Galaxy S25 users can access the Now Bar on the Always-On Display (AOD) and lock screen, similar to the S24, but they don’t have the pill-shaped button in the status bar. Good news, it’s changing soon.

You might be wondering when this “next firmware update” for the Galaxy S25 series will arrive. Well, we can expect it as soon as Samsung begins rolling out the One UI 7.0 stable update to older devices. Per an official statement, Samsung will start the One UI 7.0 stable rollout on April 7 in South Korea. In the US, the update begins rolling out on April 10, starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. Since there are plenty of supported devices, the rollout will likely happen in batches.
