Samsung Galaxy S25 series is right around the corner. It’s also the time when we start hearing a lot of rumors and leaks. One such rumor comes from noted tipster Ice Universe, who says that all the Galaxy S25 series phones will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, including international variants that previously used Exynos chips.
Ice Universe has a solid track record of getting things right. And given how Samsung’s Foundry division is having a tough time making the Exynos 2500 chipset, with a yield rate as low as 20%, leading to big losses, it’s very likely — and would be the right call — if and when Samsung rolls out the Snapdragon 8 Elite in all Galaxy S25 series phones.
The Galaxy S25 series will ditch Exynos for Snapdragon in all markets
Samsung’s attempt to push Exynos chips in the S series in select regions has drawn criticism. Users have blamed the company’s in-house chipset for lower efficiency, causing performance issues, and more. Despite all of this, Samsung remained firm on using Exynos chips. But if the new rumor turns out to be true, consumers in Europe, Australia, and India would be the happiest.
On top of that, there’s also common dissatisfaction among buyers that Samsung doesn’t offer any discount. For context, the Galaxy S24 with the Exynos 2400 is relatively not on par with those equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, per AnTuTu and Geekbench benchmarks. So it comes down to the fact that those equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are really superior compared to Exynos-equipped ones.
There’s also talks that TSMC could offer a hand
In related news, a rumor from Jukanlosreve is making rounds on X. It says that Samsung’s Exynos 2500 dreams could be made possible and long rival TSMC could help achieve that. Notably, TSMC is the world’s largest semiconductor foundry. Its chipset quality is considered superior to Samsung’s.
While this move would mean another business loss in cards for Samsung Foundry, if things go well, we’d definitely see better Exynos chips.
