Samsung has started rolling out a major AI upgrade to Galaxy S25 series, introducing Gemini Live. Essentially, itโs a visual, real-time AI-powered, and much powerful assistant. The update, which is now rolling out, lets users interact with Googleโs AI using their phoneโs camera or screen.
You can point, asks, and get your answers with Gemini Live on Galaxy S25
To use Gemini Live, you just have to press and hold the power button. The AI will then look at whatโs in front of the camera or on the phoneโs screen and give helpful advice. For example, you can point the camera at your closet and ask the AI to suggest outfits or help organize your clothes. You can also share your screen while shopping online and get style tips or product suggestions. Google has outlined at least 5 use cases of Gemini Live with camera and screen sharing, which you should read.
Samsung says the goal of Gemini Live is to feel like talking to a smart friend who can see what you see and help you instantly. The AI uses both the camera and screen to understand your needs and give real-time answers in a natural, friendly way. In a press release, Samsung MXโs Customer Experience chief, Jay Kim said, โTogether with Google, we are marking a bold step toward the future of mobile AI, delivering smarter interactions that are deeply in sync with how we live, work and communicateโ
The feature was first shown off in March during MWC and is now ready for users. Itโs one of the first tools to use Googleโs Gemini AI in this way, combining camera and screen sharing with real-time help. Samsung believes this will change how people use their phones in everyday life, making AI more useful and personal.
For now, Gemini Live is only available for the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra (review) and Pixel 9 phones. Other Android users can still try these features through the Gemini app, but theyโll need a Google One AI Premium plan, which costs $20 per month. More Galaxy devices may get support in the future.
