Samsung has started rolling out the first software update for the Galaxy S25 series in the US. The update is now live for carrier-locked models on T-Mobile. It should soon hit all carriers nationwide, including unlocked units. Alongside the February 2025 security patch, the devices are getting some critical bug fixes related to call, camera, and charging functions.
The Galaxy S25 series receives its first software update in the US
Yesterday, Samsung released the February update for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in its home country of South Korea. The same update is now available for users in the US, carrying an identical build number — S93*USQU1AYB3. The OTA (over the air) firmware package for the carrier-locked Plus model weighs 615MB. Expect a similar-sized package for the other two models.
While Samsung’s official release notes in Korea revealed the changes, the changelog supplied in the US tells us nothing. The update size and build number suggest it’s the same changes, meaning fixes for call, camera, and charging. Some Galaxy S25 Ultra users reported banding issues in low-light photos, particularly in Night Mode. Samsung acknowledged the problem and has now released a fix.
Galaxy S25 users have also experienced issues with the proximity sensor misbehaving when on speakerphone, causing temporary audio loss, while some early adopters reported inconsistent charging speeds. In addition, the update contains the February security patch, addressing over 40 vulnerabilities, including a few critical flaws.
If you are using a Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in the US or any other market, expect this update to hit your phone anytime now. The new Samsung flagships support seamless updates, meaning the update will install in the background, only requiring a restart to complete the process. You can check manually by going to: Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Thanks, Justin!
