Galaxy S24 FE Nears Launch as Samsung Drops Major Hint

by | Sep 3, 2024 | Galaxy S, News

Samsung just dropped a massive hint at an imminent launch of the Galaxy S24 FE. The company added the unannounced phone to the devices supporting its Camera Assistant app. It also confirmed that the device will ship with Android 14-based One UI 6.1. A launch date is still missing, though.

Galaxy S24 FE set to launch soon with One UI 6.1

Samsung recently updated the Galaxy Store listing for Camera Assistant, adding the Galaxy S24 FE to the devices that support the app. This indicates a nearing official launch of the phone. The company hasn’t said anything about the launch date but rumors hint at an October unveiling. The upcoming Fan Edition model has already picked up a bunch of regulatory certifications and official support pages on Samsung’s website.

The updated Camera Assistant description on the Galaxy Store also confirms Android 14 for the Galaxy S24 FE. The device will ship with One UI 6.1, likely including the One UI 6.1.1-based update that other Galaxy S24 models are expected to receive this month. This update brings new AI features and other enhancements from the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. Folding phones and tablets will receive the changes with the One UI 6.1.1 update.

Android 14 out of the box is another indication of an imminent launch. Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update should hit the stable channel in November. Galaxy S24 FE will almost certainly arrive before that. The Korean firm wouldn’t want to ship a high-end phone with an older Android/ One UI version when a new version is available. December is the earliest Samsung has ever unveiled a new phone running the latest Android version.

While the Galaxy S24 flagships are eligible for seven years of updates, we doubt the Korean firm will offer the same level of update support to the FE model. It will probably receive four major Android OS updates (up to Android 18) and five years of security patches (until late 2029). Samsung will confirm it all during the launch. The Galaxy S24 FE looks set to feature the Exynos 2400e chipset globally, including in the US.
