Over the past couple of weeks, Samsung has consistently pushed the November security update to eligible Galaxy devices globally. A couple more models joined the party today. The Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite are receiving the latest security patch.
November update rolling out to the Galaxy S21 FE and Tab S6 Lite
As part of Samsung’s commitment to Galaxy users’ device security, the company releases monthly security patches for its phones and tablets. This month’s security release addresses 52 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family, including some high-severity issues potentially allowing threat actors to gain remote access to affected devices.
The Korean firm has already updated several devices to the latest security patch, ala SMR (Security Maintenance Release). The Galaxy S21 FE has also now received the November security update. The initial rollout covers European countries such as Germany, with expansion to other regions, including the US, expected shortly.
The update arrives with the firmware build version G990BXXSBGXJ3 and has an OTA (over the air) download size of approximately 357MB. Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t bring new features or performance improvements. Even the enhanced Auto Blocker feature appears missing. Other devices received Auto Blocker USB restrictions with the November update.
The story is unchanged for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, which is currently receiving the November SMR in South Korea. It comes with the build number P613KOS7CXJ1. There are no additional changes apart from the 50-odd security fixes. Samsung should soon roll out these updates globally, and push the latest SMR to more Galaxy devices.
Your Galaxy phone or tablet may notify you when a new update is available. If you’ve received a notification, it’s advisable to install it promptly for a smoother, bug-free Galaxy experience. You can also manually check for the updates by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
