Samsung may release at least three foldables during its second Galaxy Unpacked event in July. These may include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip FE. While we had expected the Galaxy G Fold (also known as the tri-fold) to release at Unpacked, two reliable sources have refuted this rumor. Hence, it seems the G Fold won’t be part of the regular Galaxy Z lineup, which is just a few months away.
Samsung’s Galaxy G Fold won’t release during Galaxy Unpacked in July
Max Jambor revealed the codenames of models expected to be part of the Galaxy Unpacked lineup yesterday. He mentioned that these would be codenamed B7, B74, and Q7. When I asked Jambor if these referred to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Flip FE, and Z Fold 7, he responded with an “eyes” emoji. To recap, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 was codenamed B6, and the Z Fold 6 was Q6. This makes it clear that the Flip 7 and Fold 7 are likely confirmed. As for the B74, its codename suggests another version of the Flip lineup, possibly the Flip FE.

Interestingly, reliable leaker PandaFlashPro revealed that Samsung will begin production of its foldables (Galaxy Z lineup) in the first week of May. This further supports the idea that three foldables will be unveiled during the second Galaxy Unpacked event. As for the Galaxy G Fold, PandaFlashPro suggests Samsung could start production at the end of August. Additionally, top display analyst Ross Young confirmed that the G Fold’s codename isn’t available yet, and panel production will begin in July. Whether panel production starts in July or late August, it strongly suggests the G Fold won’t launch at Unpacked.
The Galaxy G Fold could feature a 9.96-inch display when folded and a 6.54-inch display when unfolded. It will also have an inward folding mechanism, unlike the rival Huawei Mate XT. Another tipster Yeux1122 suggests Samsung may reserve the Galaxy G Fold for a January release. It might be a more exclusive, low-volume edition with such low production.
