Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Chromebook Plus featuring Intel’s Core 3 100U (Raptor Lake-R) processor. It’s a decent PC with an incredibly slim profile. It appears the company also has a more powerful version in the pipeline. The same Chromebook with an Intel Core 5 120U processor recently surfaced on its website.
Samsung makes two versions of its super-thin Galaxy Chromebook Plus
The Galaxy Chromebook Plus is the thinnest and lightest Chromebook Plus ever. It is 11.8mm (0.46 inches) thick and weighs 1.17 kg (2.58 pounds), while still offering a 15.6-inch OLED display, full keyboard, and a big battery. The Intel Core 3 100U processor coupled with the fluidity of ChromeOS ensures competitive performance too. The chip features a base frequency of 1.2GHz and goes up to 4.7GHz, along with 10MB of Smart Cache.
While Samsung didn’t mention a more powerful version at launch, it also made a Galaxy Chromebook Plus with the Intel Core 5 120U processor. This Core 5 variant offers a base frequency of 1.4GHz, boosting up to 5.0GHz. Also, it includes 12MB of Smart Cache for enhanced performance. It’s a nice upgrade if the base version isn’t up to the mark for your needs. And it’s only £100 pricier — Samsung has only listed it on its UK website so far.
Buyers in the UK can grab the Galaxy Chromebook Plus’ Intel Core 3 variant at £649 ($699 in the US), while the Intel Core 5 model is priced at £749. Aside from the upgraded processor, both versions share similar specs, including an Intel integrated graphics chip, 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB of eUFS storage. The OLED display boasts 400 nits of peak brightness, while the battery is rated to last up to 13 hours on a single charge.
While Samsung UK’s official website lists both versions, sales haven’t begun yet. Meanwhile, the Core 3 Galaxy Chromebook Plus is already available in the US.
