Samsung has started rolling out One UI 7-style icons to its products. Not Galaxy phones, but its Galaxy Book series Windows laptops are picking up the new design. A recent update to the Settings app for Galaxy Books introduced circular icons for in-app menus. The icons were previously squircles.
Galaxy Books get Samsung’s One UI 7-style icons
Galaxy phones currently use squircle icons for apps, in-app menus, and other UI elements. Samsung is expected to switch to circular icons on One UI 7. Well, we recently used a One UI 7-powered Galaxy S24 Ultra and app icons were still squircles. However, some in-app menus in Settings and the power menu had circular icons — as you can see below, the Galaxy AI menu still has squircle icons while Settings has circular ones.
It’s unclear if Samsung plans to keep the app icon shape unchanged and only work on colors and design. However, all in-app menus and other UI elements might switch to circular icons. The recent switch to circular icons for Settings menus in Galaxy Books further suggests so. X user @GerwinvGiessen first reported seeing the change on a Galaxy Book 4 Ultra. We also received this icon update on a Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360.
The latest update doesn’t seem to bring any other notable change to the Settings app for Galaxy Books. We haven’t noticed anything yet. However, redesigned icons reflect Samsung’s commitment to creating a more cohesive and consistent user experience across the Galaxy ecosystem. Galaxy devices already offer powerful cross-device functions for enhanced productivity. This update ensures a seamless visual experience too.
That said, One UI 7 for Galaxy phones and tablets is still some time away. Samsung may not release a beta update until December. The Galaxy S24 series will first receive a beta version, though it’s unclear if the company will add more devices later. The wider stable One UI 7 rollout will begin after the launch of the Galaxy S25 series one early January. We will keep you posted.
