Galaxy Book 4 Edge Now Supports Google Drive Natively, Finally

Samsung’s Galaxy Book 4 Edge and other ARM-powered Windows PCs can now run Google Drive natively, thanks to Google’s latest update. The company has officially launched the ARM64 version of its Drive app for Windows, allowing Windows on ARM devices to seamlessly sync files without relying on beta software or third-party tools.

Windows on ARM-powered Galaxy Book 4 Edge now runs stable Google Drive

Google first introduced a beta version of Drive app for Windows on ARM in late 2024. While it offered basic functionality, it lacked the full stability and integration that x86-based PCs had. Now, with the app out of beta, users can access their Drive files directly from Windows File Explorer. If they already had the beta version installed, it will automatically update to the stable release. New users can download it from Google’s official website.

With native support, Google Drive integrates more smoothly into the Windows ecosystem, allowing users to upload and sync files effortlessly. However, the app requires Microsoft WebView2, which is typically included in Windows 11. If it’s missing, you may be prompted to install it during setup.

ARM-based Windows devices are slowly catching up with Macs. Many of these laptops offer better battery life and mobile-like efficiency. Software compatibility has been a key hurdle, but that’s starting to change. More developers are optimizing apps for ARM, including Adobe, Proton VPN, and even Microsoft. Google has also expanded support, adding ARM compatibility to Chrome and Quick Share last year.

The Galaxy Book 4 Edge and similar ARM-powered devices are now better positioned as everyday productivity machines. If you’re considering a Galaxy Book 4 Edge, you can snag one starting at $799. Google Drive for ARM Windows is rolling out gradually, with full availability expected by early April 2025. Which cloud storage service do you use?
