Samsung promises a long-term update policy for its Android devices and provides monthly security updates to many of them. It’s time for September security updates for the Galaxy A53 and A54 in the US. The company has already rolled out the latest security fixes to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, and many more devices.
September security update reaches the Galaxy A54 and A53 in the US
Samsung ensures that all Galaxy smartphones and tablets are secure and up-to-date. Even budget phones get regular security patches, with the company expected to offer six years of updates starting later this year. These updates contain Android OS fixes from Google as well as some Galaxy-specific patches. This month’s release contains 67 vulnerability fixes, including one critical patch.
The Galaxy A54 and A53 are receiving the September patch, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release), in the US. Both carrier-locked and unlocked versions of the devices are picking up the new security update. The updated firmware build numbers for the former are A546USQS8CXH8 (carrier-locked) and A546U1UES8CXH7 (unlocked). Those for the latter are A536USQSBEXH4 and A536U1UESAEXH3, respectively.
These updates bring nothing more than the latest security fixes. Do not expect any noticeable changes in One UI or any other device features in this update. Samsung will soon provide September security updates for other Galaxy devices in the US and beyond. The Galaxy A54 and A53 should also soon receive this update in other markets, likely with a similar changelog, i.e., no new features.
Samsung is also preparing to roll out Android version 15 and One UI 7.0 to Galaxy devices. The Korean behemoth is expected to begin beta programs later this month or in early October. A stable release may follow in November. The Galaxy S24 Ultra should be the first to get the update, followed by other models. Stay tuned for more information about new updates.
