Galaxy A36 in the Works, Gets Spotted in the IMEI Database

by | Oct 8, 2024 | Galaxy A, News

Samsung launched the Galaxy A36 in the USA in April this year. The phone arrived as one of the best budget offerings from the South Korean tech giant. At the launch, it was one of the most loaded offerings in the sub-$400 segment. The brand is now planning to launch a successor to the handset called the Galaxy A36 in the near future. While Samsung hasn’t yet confirmed the Galaxy A36’s existence, it has been spotted in the IMEI database.

Galaxy A36 5G will succeed the Galaxy A35 in the budget segment

It appears that Samsung began the development of the Galaxy A36 5G a few months after the launch of the Galaxy A35. Ahead of the launch, a listing for the Galaxy A36 has appeared in the IMEI database. It appears that Samsung has started network tests for the upcoming budget offering. The network tests are being done to make sure the new Galaxy A handset offers a seamless user experience.

Notably, two models of the upcoming Galaxy A36 5G have appeared in the IMEI database. These include the SM-A366/DS and SM-A366U. The first model number appears to be for the dual-SIM global variant of the handset. The other model confirms that Samsung will also sell the device in the US market.

The processor of the device is not confirmed at the moment, but we do know it will be a 5G chipset. To recall, the Galaxy A35 is fueled by the Exynos 1380 SoC. There’s a possibility that Samsung will fit the Galaxy A36 with an Exynos 1480 chipset. Unfortunately, there’s no word regarding the other features of the phone at the moment. There are rumors that the Galaxy A36 could be one of the upcoming Galaxy A series devices to offer the Galaxy AI features.

Galaxy A56 is also in the works with a powerful Exynos 1580 SoC

Notably, Samsung is also working on another Galaxy A series device called the Galaxy A56. The phone will be a more premium offering than the Galaxy A36. The Galaxy A56 was recently spotted in the database of the benchmarking app Geekbench. The benchmarks suggested that it will be fueled by a powerful 2.91GHz Samsung Exynos 1580 processor, paired with the Xclipse 540 GPU.

Furthermore, the Galaxy A56 managed to achieve a score of 1,046 in the single-core test. The multi-core test results of the device were 3,678. The phone was tested with 8GB of RAM. This one will probably surely offer some of the Galaxy AI features. Since the phone isn’t expected to launch until next year, we can expect more details soon, so stay tuned.
