Galaxy A06 5G Makes Surprise Entry on Geekbench

by | Jan 3, 2025 | Galaxy A, News

In August 2024, Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy A06 in Vietnam. The entry-level Galaxy phone hit the market later that month. As expected, we knew the Galaxy A06 was in the works for a wider rollout. Speaking of which, it made a surprise appearance on Geekbench.

Galaxy A06 5G emerges in a Geekbench listing revealing one exciting update

Going by the rumors, the upcoming Galaxy A06 5G is expected to match the specs of its 4G counterpart. The main difference lies in the chipset. The Galaxy A06 4G features a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, while the Geekbench listing reveals that the Galaxy A06 5G will house a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset under the hood.

There’s something exciting, however, revealed in the Geekbench listing. It confirms that the Galaxy A06 5G will run Android 15-based One UI 7.0 out of the box. But hold your horses for Galaxy AI features. These features require faster processors and are typically reserved for flagship models. The Galaxy A06 5G, on the other hand, is designed to cater to budget-conscious users.

Galaxy A06 5G Geekbench SM-A066B

According to the Geekbench listing, the Galaxy A06 5G carries the model number SM-A066B. This same model number appeared last week in a Wi-Fi certification listing, so this corroboration signals exciting things ahead. Speaking of the numbers, the device achieved a 731 single-core score and an 1816 multi-core score. The previous Wi-Fi certification listing also confirmed that it will support Wi-Fi 5.

Expect no big changes

Furthermore, things are likely to stay the same for the Galaxy A06 5G. This means the device will feature a 6.7-inch PLS LCD with a 60Hz refresh rate, up to 128GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM. As for the cameras, it might sport a dual-camera setup on the rear, consisting of a 50MP wide lens and a 2MP depth sensor, along with an 8MP selfie shooter. The powerhouse could be a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W wired charging.

That said, the release date remains under wraps. For now, Samsung seems to be focusing on the upcoming Galaxy S25 series launch and the wider rollout of One UI 7.0. We’ll keep you posted with any updates that come our way.
