Samsung has released the February 2025 security patch for a bunch of foldables. The latest security update is rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, Fold 5, Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. The update is currently available in South Korea but should soon expand to the rest of the world. All of these foldables are eligible for One Ui 7.0, which still doesn’t have a release date.
Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, and more foldables get Samsung’s February update
The February 2025 security patch, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release), contains over 40 vulnerability fixes. Some of those are critical fixes, potentially allowing remote access to affected devices if kept unpatched. Alongside Samsung and Google, other Android partners also help address these vulnerabilities. Flaws that only exist on Galaxy devices are patched directly by Samsung.
The Korean firm recently started rolling out these security fixes to Galaxy devices. On the first day itself, Samsung pushed the February SMR to the Galaxy S24, S23, and S22 lineups across South Korea and Europe. As we wait for these flagships to receive the latest security patch in other markets, Samsung is now updating its recent foldables.
All Galaxy foldables launched in 2023 and 2024 are receiving the February security update in Samsung’s home country. We have listed the new firmware build numbers and update sizes for Korean units below. Note that the build number and update size may vary depending on the market, but Samsung will push the same set of changes everywhere. Speaking of which, this update doesn’t bring anything more than the latest security fixes.
- Galaxy Z Fold 6: F956NKSS2AYAA, 390MB
- Galaxy Z Flip 6: F741NKSS2AYAA, 384MB
- Galaxy Z Fold 5: F946NKSS4DYAA
- Galaxy Z Flip 5: F731NKSS4DYAA, 377MB
- Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition: F958NKSS2AYAA
As far as the One UI 7.0 update is concerned, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S24 series will receive Beta 4 next week. At best, the stable rollout may begin at the end of this month. It could be a while before all of these foldables receive the stable One UI 7.0 update globally.
