A few days ago, Samsung released the February security patch for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in South Korea. The company has now rolled out this update in the US. More devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, will receive the new security patch in the coming days.
US Galaxy S24, Fold 6, and Flip 6 units receive Samsung’s February update
Samsung’s February security update, aka Security Maintenance Release (SMR), contains fixes for over 40 vulnerabilities. Some of these are critical Android OS flaws patched by Google. The Korean firm recently started pushing these security fixes to eligible Galaxy phones. It has already updated Galaxy S and Galaxy Z lineups launched in 2022 and later.
Following the initial release in South Korea, Samsung is now rolling out the latest SMR to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in the US. We can confirm the rollout for carrier-locked units on Verizon’s network. The new firmware build numbers are as follows:
- Galaxy S24: S921USQS4AYA1
- Galaxy S24+: S926USQS4AYA1
- Galaxy S24 Ultra: S928USQS4AYA1
- Galaxy Z Fold 6: F956USQS2AYA5
- Galaxy Z Flip 6: F741USQS2AYA5
The update should soon hit all carrier-locked and unlocked units of these phones nationwide. Samsung is pushing nothing more than this month’s security fixes, so don’t expect major changes. The company will roll out a bigger feature update in the coming weeks. The One UI 7.0 update is expected to be available for the Galaxy S24 series later this month. The foldables might receive it in early March.
Ahead of that, Samsung plans one more beta build for the Galaxy S24 lineup. It will be the fourth One UI 7.0 beta for the 2024 flagships. The new version is expected to arrive next week, addressing bugs and glitches in the current version. We will let you know when the rollout begins.
