Samsung has begun rolling out the February 2025 security update to mid-range Galaxy phones. The Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A73 are receiving the latest security patch, following its release to over a dozen flagship models earlier this month. This Security Maintenance Release (SMR) addresses over 40 vulnerabilities, enhancing device security and stability.

Galaxy A34 and A73 pick up Samsung’s February security update

Over the past couple of weeks, Samsung has released the February SMR for the Galaxy S25, S24, S23, S22, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, Fold 5, Flip 5, Fold 4, and Flip 4 in several markets, including the US. The update is still locked to select regions for some models, but it’s only a matter of time before a global rollout begins.

With all recent flagships covered, the company has shifted its focus to the mid-range lineup. The Galaxy A34 is currently picking up the latest security update in Europe, while the rollout has begun in Asia for the Galaxy A73. Their new firmware build numbers are A346BXXS9CYA1 and A736BXXSAEYB2. Samsung will soon roll out this update to Galaxy A34 and A73 users in other parts of the world.

Speaking of which, Samsung’s February security patch includes over 40 fixes from both Google and Samsung, targeting vulnerabilities affecting the Android OS and Samsung’s proprietary software. Among those is a critical Android flaw that had been exploited in malicious attacks. The update also resolves issues specific to devices powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets.

To check for the update, Galaxy users can navigate to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Ensure the device has sufficient battery (at least 30%) and a stable internet connection during the update process. It’s also advisable to back up important data before proceeding, particularly when installing large platform updates. Samsung will soon roll out One UI 7.0 for eligible Galaxy devices.
