The Edge Panel has been a staple on Samsung Galaxy phones for over a decade. What was first introduced as a feature alongside the Galaxy Note Edge launch in 2014 quickly became a go-to feature. One added advantage was the ability to browse through several Edge Panels, choose what you like (free or paid), and customize it however you want. Sadly, with the One UI 7.0 update, the Edge Panels will no longer be available for download from the Galaxy Store.
Edge Panels won’t be available on One UI 7.0’s Galaxy Store
In what appears to be an announcement from the Galaxy Store Operations team, it has been confirmed that you won’t be able to download Edge Panels from the Galaxy Store after updating to the upcoming One UI 7.0. It sure was good while it lasted. We had our moments of happiness, but now it may be time to bid farewell.
While the news might catch some off guard, it’s been in the cards for a while. The writing has been on the wall, especially since the Edge Panels aren’t available on Galaxy foldables. However, for those who have built up a collection of Edge Panels over time and aren’t ready to say goodbye just yet, there’s a silver lining.
The already downloaded Edge Panels will remain unaffected, but there’s a catch
If you’ve acquired several Edge Panels, whether for free or paid, they will still appear in the My Apps section of the Galaxy Store. However, once you uninstall them after updating to One UI 7.0, there’s no going back. You won’t be able to reinstall them, as they won’t be available in the Galaxy Store starting with One UI 7.0.
So, be sure not to uninstall the Edge Panels you’ve already installed and continue enjoying them. While Samsung didn’t explicitly state why this change is happening, one reasonable guess would be to avoid compatibility issues, as rumors suggest that One UI 7.0 will be a major update.
