December Update Causes Overheating Issues for Galaxy A55

by | Dec 25, 2024 | Galaxy A, News, Updates

A few days ago, Samsung released the December security update for the Galaxy A55, rolling out over 40 vulnerability patches. However, the update appears to have done more harm than good. Rumors are circulating that the device is overheating after installing the new security patch. It runs warmer than usual even under normal conditions.

Galaxy A55 is overheating after the December update

First reported by X user @samsungoneui7, the Galaxy A55 has allegedly been running too warm since the December update. Not many users appear to have experienced this issue, but it’s a bit frustrating for those few affected ones. While smartphones can overheat when used for extended periods, during heavy activities like gaming, or while charging for a long time, that’s not the case here. The Samsung mid-ranger overheats with no heavy load.

In its official changelog, Samsung mentioned stability and reliability improvements alongside the latest security fixes. Maybe a bug slipped in somewhere there, causing the overheating problem. Interestingly, the Galaxy A55’s December patch carries a newer build in India (A556EXXU6AXL3), where the update rolled out almost a week after Europe (A556BXXU6AXL2).

While this isn’t unusual, Samsung has been pushing the same build to the Galaxy A55 globally for the past few months. Maybe it noticed some problems in the original December update released in Europe and patched it with the new build in India. This is only our assumption, though. The company has yet to officially comment on the matter, let alone provide a fix.

Meanwhile, if you are facing overheating issues, don’t forget to report it to Samsung. You can use the Samsung Members app to report issues and provide feedback or suggestions on your Galaxy device. Avoid playing resource-intensive games or using the phone continuously for an extended period. Lowering the brightness can also reduce overheating.
