Google may be planning a UI redesign for Circle to Search to enhance its functionality. Newly spotted evidence suggests the AI tool will add a toolbox to host additional buttons, making it more versatile. Most notably, Google Lens could be making a surprise comeback.
Circle to Search adds a toolbox for new functions, including Google Lens
Since its launch with the Galaxy S24 series, Circle to Search has seen several updates from Google, introducing new features and enhancements. However, its core functionality has remained mostly unchanged. You use it to quickly run a Google search for anything on the screen. That hasn’t stopped Google from regularly adding new functions.
The AI tool can now search music, translate text, and even let you share a cropped screenshot without actually taking a screenshot. It appears Google wants to add more and is preparing a UI overhaul to accommodate the new functions. Android Authority spotted some interesting changes in Circle to Search within the latest beta version of the Google app for Android.
The UI now includes a new button resembling a traditional app drawer, though it functions more like a toolbox. It opens a small pop-up menu with additional buttons, including Translate, Song search, and Google Lens. If you recall, Google Lens originally existed within Circle to Search but was later removed. It appears the feature is making a comeback soon.
As you can see in the screenshots above, the Song search function appears in the main bar as well as the toolbox menu. This suggests Google is still working on this update and hasn’t finalized everything. Hopefully, the company will roll out the new Circle to Search redesign with a toolbox soon, allowing users to do more with a few taps. We will let you know when this update rolls out to Galaxy phones.
