Time flies in the blink of an eye. What if I told you that Google’s Circle to Search feature is about to mark its first anniversary? It rolled out first with the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, and we’re already on the edge of our seats waiting for Galaxy S25 series. Meanwhile, Google has been making strides, constantly adding new features and updating Circle to Search, including rolling it out to more devices.
Circle to Search could bring Apple Intelligence-like animation to Galaxy
It’s now being reported that Google may be tweaking the Circle to Search animation to mimic Apple Intelligence’s. According to Android Authority, an APK teardown of the Google app (v15.47.26.sa.arm64 beta) suggests that Google is working on a fresh update that could bring an Apple Intelligence-like animation to Circle to Search.
Right now, when you use Circle to Search on your Galaxy, the screen shows a shimmering animation, but it doesn’t have any real color. That’s about to change, report says. There will be an Apple Intelligence- or rainbow-like colors to the screen, after the update makes it to the final version.
There’s also a change to the circle itself: the outline used to be a solid white. However, in the new update, it will have colors that shift around the edge.
When two tech majors copy each other, the consumer wins
On the other side, Apple has rolled out its suite of genAI features — Apple Intelligence — starting with iOS 18.1. While the Android vs. iPhone debate is ongoing, there’s no denying that all these tech major bring their best to the table.
That’s why borrowing a page from each other’s playbook isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In the end, it’s the consumer who reaps the rewards, getting to enjoy the best of both worlds, whether they’re rocking an iPhone or a Samsung.
That said, it’s still too early to say if the updated Circle to Search animation will make it to the final version. However, given the amount of attention Google is paying to the Circle to Search lately, it seems quite likely.
