Are you using a Casely power bank to charge your phone? If yes, you might want to check its model number. And if it’s E33A, you should stop using it immediately, as it poses a serious risk of injury or death from fire and burn hazards. The company is offering free replacements or gift cards to customers, so go claim yours.

This Casely Power Pod has been recalled due to a safety risk

In April 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Casely announced a recall of the Casely Power Pod. The reason was that the firm had received 51 reports of the lithium-ion battery overheating, expanding, or catching fire. This happened while users were charging their phones. Later, 28 more incidents came to light, including one fatality and another serious incident on an airplane. As such, the company has recently reannounced the recall.

The device in question carries model number E33A, which you can identify from the back. The company sold the product at getcasely.com, Amazon.com, and other e-commerce websites (from March 2022 to September 2024). It was available for between $30 and $70.

Casely says it is “committed to its customers’ safety and, out of an abundance of caution, has taken proactive measures to remove affected products from circulation.” The company is asking users to apply for a replacement by submitting a claim through its website.

The process is quite straightforward. You will need to fill out the form and upload two photos of the device. The first one should show the front with the word “RECALLED” and the date (written in permanent marker). The second one should show the model number on the back. Once the company approves your claim, you will receive a replacement Power Pod within about 2-4 weeks.

If you do not want a replacement, you can also choose to receive a $60 Casely gift card. As for disposal of the recalled product, the company asks users to follow local regulations for lithium-ion batteries.
