Samsung has officially announced One UI 7 based on Android 15. The company unveiled the next big update for Galaxy devices at its annual Developer Conference (SDC) today. It said the beta update will roll out to developers later this year, but didn’t specify a precise timeline. But don’t get too excited. The stable version isn’t arriving until 2025.
One UI 7 goes official, brings deeper AI integration and UI overhaul
Samsung has taken longer than usual to roll out One UI 7. Last year, it started the One UI 6.0 beta program in mid-August and released the stable version at the end of October. But this year, it’s yet to start beta testing. After remaining mum all this while, the company finally opened up about One UI 7 at SDC 2024 in San Jose. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait longer to experience the big update on our Galaxy devices. Samsung is starting One UI 7 beta later this year but doesn’t plan to release the stable version until 2025. It will ship the “next Galaxy,” i.e., the Galaxy S25 series with the new version. Other devices may receive the update after the S25 launch sometime in January next year. At SDC 2024, Samsung teased some of the changes the next One UI update brings, including huge AI enhancements and a “brand new UX design”. We always knew that the company would weave Galaxy AI deeper into Galaxy devices. It has been betting highly on AI features lately. Leaks have also revealed a massive UI overhaul for smoother a Galaxy experience.
According to the company, the new UI design will offer a simple, impactful, and emotive experience. You’ll get a renewed look for your Galaxy homescreen. The whole experience will be highly customizable, all thanks to Good Lock. Expect Samsung to share more information about One UI 7 later this year when the beta programs go live. We will keep you posted.
