It’s raining beta updates in the Samsung Galaxy world. Shortly after One UI 7 Beta 3 for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, Samsung released Beta 6 for the Galaxy S24 series. It is now rolling out Beta 2 for the Galaxy S23 lineup. The company may soon follow up with new beta updates for the Galaxy Tab S10 and Galaxy A55.
Galaxy S23 series gets One UI 7 Beta 2 with more S25 features
The Galaxy S23 series is picking up the same beta build as the Galaxy S24 (ZYCE). The OTA package also weighs pretty much the same — around 1.2GB for the Ultra model. If you join the dots, you know the changelog is identical too. In fact, Beta 3 for the Fold 6 and Flip 6 contained the same set of features as the S24 and S23. Samsung is pushing more Galaxy S25 features to these devices.
Most notably, One UI 7 Beta 2 for the Galaxy S23 series lets users switch the default digital assistant from Bixby to Google Gemini. You can remp the power button to involve Google’s AI assistant instead of Bixby. Additionally, the phones are getting AI-powered transcriptions of your call recordings. The Galaxy S23 trio also support custom stickers and AI summaries of web pages.
As Samsung revealed earlier, the 2023 flagships miss out on Audio Eraser, an AI tool for removing unwanted noise from videos. They also don’t get natural language voice search. The company suggested that the Galaxy S23 lineup’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset doesn’t have enough NPU power to run these AI features efficiently. This may also be an artificial limitation to drive people to newer models.
Nonetheless, the Galaxy S23 series gets plenty of new features with One UI 7. The latest beta release also addresses a bunch of bugs across widgets, routines, media controller UI, and more. Samsung plans to begin the One UI 7 stable rollout on April 7. However, some older models may not get the update until May or even June. We will let you know when the update goes live.
