Samsung offers an upgraded version of its Bixby AI assistant in China. Its Chat World feature provides real-time information about your surroundings through your phone’s camera. Simply point the camera at an object to learn more about it without taking a photo or video. Notably, the feature supports English as well as Chinese, raising questions about why Samsung hasn’t launched it globally.
Samsung’s China-only Bixby Chat World AI feature supports English
A short video posted on X by @DalgleishGX shows Bixby’s AI-powered Chat World feature for China introducing itself in English. “I’m so happy to chat with you. How are you?” the AI assistant asks the user in a Chinese accent. This suggests the tool supports English, and that raises a big question: Why isn’t this feature available elsewhere?

Samsung is no stranger to these kinds of regional restrictions. Time and again, we’ve seen the company limit new features to select markets. For example, the Galaxy S25 Ultra — its latest flagship — supports a drag-and-drop file transfer feature in China but nowhere else. Now, restricting an AI tool that can converse in English to China only adds to the frustration. It’s time for Samsung to end this practice.
On the bright side, Bixby received a significant upgrade recently — thankfully, not just in China. Samsung’s often-overlooked AI assistant now better understands natural language, grasping context more effectively to execute commands and deliver relevant results. It looks like a much-needed upgrade. Coupled with deeper Gemini integration, Samsung’s One UI 7 update brings AI to your everyday mobile experience.
Samsung will roll out One UI 7 to all eligible Galaxy phones and tablets starting April 7. Of course, recent flagships will receive the update first, followed by others. Some Galaxy users may have to wait until May or even June to get the taste of One UI 7.
