The Galaxy A24 is receiving Samsung’s August security update. The mid-range phone is picking up fixes for dozens of security issues, including a couple of critical vulnerabilities. The company has already updated around 30 Galaxy devices to the latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release).
The August security update lands on Samsung’s Galaxy A24
This month’s security release contains 50 vulnerability patches. As always, this is a combined total of Android OS flaws and Galaxy vulnerabilities. Almost every Galaxy device is affected by at least one of these security issues. The Galaxy S24 and A55, for example, have a high-severity GPU vulnerability that doesn’t exist on any other device.
Samsung has been pushing these security fixes to eligible Galaxy phones and tablets since early this month. It has already updated all flagships and foldables except for the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. These devices may pick up the new SMR anytime now. Several budget and mid-range models have also received it.
The Galaxy A24 is the latest to join Samsung’s August SMR party. The rollout began recently, with the company first updating the phone in its homeland, South Korea. A wider release of the latest security update for this id-range handset should follow in the coming days. The Korean units are receiving the firmware build number A245NKSS4CXG2.
As the build number suggests, the update is all about security fixes with no additional goodies — “S” as the sixth-to-last character indicates a security update. The Galaxy A24 will get the Android 15 and One UI 7.0 update. Launched with Android 13 in April 2023, it is eligible for four major Android OS updates, so it will also get Android 16 and Android 17.
Samsung is expected to roll out the August update to more devices in the coming weeks. You can check for new updates from Settings > Software update > Download and install. The delayed One UI 7.0 beta update may arrive later this month, so exciting times are ahead for Galaxy users. We will keep you informed.
