According to a report from Korea, Samsung’s display subsidiary will deliver OLED screen panels for the upcoming iPhone SE 2025. If the reports are to be believed, the iPhone SE (2025) will arrive in the first half of 2025. It will be the first iPhone SE model to utilize an OLED display panel.
iPhone SE (2025) will utilize an OLED display panel from Samsung
As per industry sources, the upcoming iPhone SE’s OLED display panels will be provided by Samsung. Apart from Samsung, China’s BOE and Korea’s LG Display will also provide OLED panels for the upcoming iPhone. BOE will be the largest provider of these panels. However, there’s no word how much market share Samsung will get for the iPhone SE’s OLED panels.
It appears that Apple has reduced its reliance on Samsung for the iPhone 16 supply. This year, LG Display was the main supplier of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This ultimately resulted in less share of Samsung. LG will be supplying 20 million more panels for the iPhone 16 series as compared to last year. Notably, LG’s P-OLED display panel is now as good as Samsung Display. This is why Apple is less relying on Samsung and choosing LG Display as a supplier for the OLED panels.
New iPhone SE will compete with the Galaxy S24 FE in the US
Apple will reportedly be taking on the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE in the US using the iPhone SE (2025). Popular industry analyst Mark Gurman earlier suggested iPhone SE 2025 will have Apple Intelligence AI capabilities to better compete with AI features of Samsung phones. Also, it will be the first iPhone SE model to utilize an OLED panel. All previous budget iPhones have always used LCD screen panels.
It will be interesting to see how much Apple will charge for the iPhone SE (2025) model. The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE’s base model is currently retailing for $649.99 in the US. The higher-end variant is being offered for $709.99.
