Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S25 flagships are less than three weeks away now. Rumors suggest the company will unveil the devices on January 22. Ahead of that, leaks keep revealing new info about the upcoming phones. A fresh leak now gives us an updated version of the Samsung Notes app meant for the Galaxy S25 lineup.
Galaxy S25’s Samsung Notes app leaked ahead of time
Version 4.4.28.29 of the Samsung Notes app recently surfaced on the popular third-party app hosting platform APKMirror. The release notes provided in the listing say this version is designed for the Galaxy S25 series, adding support for Android 15 (One UI 7) along with bug fixes. This seems accurate, as the official version available for Galaxy S24 devices running One UI 7 is 4.4.25.93.
As usual, we weren’t letting the leaked app go without installing it on our Galaxy devices. We installed it on a Galaxy A55 running Android 14 with One UI 6.1 and it worked like a charm. The updated Samsung Notes version doesn’t contain anything new over the one available for One UI 7 beta users. Even this annoying change introduced following the One UI 6.1.1 update remains unfixed.
For some backstory, Samsung recently changed how notes are opened and closed. Earlier, when you tapped the back button inside a note, it switched from writing to reading mode. You are required to tab back again to go back. An update following the One UI 6.1.1 release made Samsung Notes exit notes with a single tap, without switching to reading mode.
But this also changed how a note behaves when you open it. Instead of starting in reading mode, it opened in writing mode while still requiring you to tap on the screen to bring up the keyboard. This served no practical advantage but forced users to manually switch to reading mode to click on links inserted into their notes. Samsung hasn’t fixed this yet, and the Galaxy S25 version of Samsung Notes doesn’t either. Hopefully, the company will consider addressing this annoyance soon.
