Three months after its global launch, the Galaxy A16 5G is finally headed to the US. The 5G-enabled budget smartphone will go on sale stateside on January 9, Samsung announced today. The Galaxy Fit 3 fitness tracker will also be available in the US on the same day.
Galaxy A16 5G is a budget phone with plenty of promise
The Galaxy A16 5G sports a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 800 nits of peak brightness, and Vision Booster support. It runs on Samsung’s Exynos 1330 chipset with a peak speed of 2.4GHz. Samsung offers 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with an option to expand externally via a microSD slot. Debuted with Android 14, the device is eligible for six years of updates.
The phone boasts a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary shooter, a 5MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. For selfies, Samsung gives you a 13MP front-facing camera. It’s a decent camera setup with a basic set of features. You also get Samsung Wallet support, with the company’s award-winning Knox Security platform protecting your data.
A 5,000mAh battery fuels the Galaxy A16 5G, with up to 25W charging via a USB Type-C 2.0 port. The handset is IP54-rated for dust and water resistance. Other highlights include GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v5.3, and NFC. You can enjoy free ad-supported content with Samsung TV Plus, while Samsung also offers two months of free YouTube Premium and three months of free Peacock Premium.
Galaxy Fit 3 makes fitness tracking affordable
The Galaxy Fit 3 is an affordable fitness tracker from Samsung. It isn’t a full-fledged smartwatch but boasts a watch-like design with a 1.6-inch wide display and an aluminum body. It can track over 100 types of workouts and offers various health monitoring features such as sleep, snoring, blood oxygen, heart rate, and stress levels with detailed analysis via the Samsung health platform. The device boasts 5ATM and IP68 ratings for water and dust resistance.
Price and availability
Both the Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy Fit 3 will be available in the US starting January 9. The 5G smartphone comes in Blue Black and Light Gray colors and costs $199.99. The fitness tracker is sold in Gray, Silver, and Pink Gold colors with a price tag of $59.99. Samsung offers a 50% discount on the Fit 3 if you purchase it with the Galaxy A16 5G.
