After the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A53, Samsung has released the December update for a couple more A series phones in the US. The Galaxy A23 and Galaxy A15 are receiving the latest security patch stateside. They join dozens of other flagship models, including foldables. More devices should receive the update in the coming days.
December update available for the Galaxy A23 and A15 in the US
Samsung’s latest security update addresses over 40 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family, including powered smartphones, foldables, and tablets. To be precise, the December build patches 44 issues, though not every Galaxy model is vulnerable to those. The bulk of these patches are for Android OS flaws. Google fixed at least six critical vulnerabilities with the latest release.
Also called SMR (Security Maintenance Release), Samsung will roll out this security update to all eligible devices. The rollout began early this month, with flagship models getting a priority. In recent days, the company has updated several budget and mid-range models too. The Galaxy A55, which isn’t sold in the US, received it a few days ago.
Samsung is now rolling out the December update to the Galaxy A23 and Galaxy A15 in the US. As of this writing, the update seems to be available for carrier-locked units on Verizon’s network. The updated firmware build numbers for the two models are A236VSQS7DXK2 and A156USQS5BXKA, respectively. Users on other networks should soon receive the new security patch.
Both of these devices are eligible for the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update. Samsung is currently running beta programs for the big update scheduled to debut with the Galaxy S25 series next year. It may take a while for Galaxy A23 and Galaxy A15 to receive One UI 7.0. You can always check for updates, including security patches, manually from your phone’s Settings app.
