Samsung began rolling out the first beta build of One UI 7.0 about two weeks ago, but a broader and more stable rollout is still on the horizon and hasn’t reached the masses yet. To capitalize on the growing anticipation, Samsung has started teasing the update, highlighting how privacy and utility features will take center stage.
In a newsroom post, Samsung starts with a classic punch: Imagine having less stress and more time. While One UI 7.0 will bring many features, this time around, Samsung touches on two key features at length, including the Personal Data Engine and Now Bar.
One UI 7’s Personal Data Engine is a power-packed privacy layer
Whether people like the change or not, AI personalization is one of the core features of One UI 7.0. But there’s a big problem when relying on AI: privacy. Thankfully, Samsung enhances security through its Personal Data Engine in One UI 7. This addition includes encryption safeguards to protect user data. As a result, the data will be stored in a “secure space” on the device, which is further protected by Knox Vault.
If that wasn’t enough, One UI 7 also includes post-quantum cryptography, which helps future-proof users’ key information against emerging threats. This is a crucial step, and I hope it lives up to its promises.
AI is everywhere in the One UI 7, for better
It goes without saying that AI is everywhere with the upcoming One UI upgrade. Samsung integrates AI features across various apps, using its security engine to ensure cross-app protection. One notable addition is the Now Bar, which, in case you missed it, appears on One UI 7’s lock screen.
It offers quick access to entertainment controls and workout timers, and even suggests actions based on context. For example, while traveling, it may offer to create a folder with essential apps, such as flight details, playlists, or boarding times — all accessible from the lock screen.
