Amid the excitement surrounding the One UI 7.0 beta, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra has received a new Google Play system update (GPSU). The November build is now rolling out to the device globally. It also recently picked up the December security patch. More Samsung smartphones will receive these updates in the coming days.
November Google Play system update now available for the Galaxy S24 Ultra
While OS updates add new features and improve the overall functioning of the device, monthly security patches address vulnerabilities in various system components. Google Play system updates are a third kind of update Galaxy phones receive regularly. These are updates to the core Android services from Google. They patch bugs, improve stability, and add new features to apps and services like the Google Play Store.
Galaxy devices occasionally receive two Google Play system updates in a month, while other times, these updates face delays. The latter seems to be the case for the November GPSU as is finally rolling out to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Although the update size may vary depending on the region and device model, it typically weighs under 100MB.
As usual, this update improves the functioning of the Play Store, Google Wallet, and other Android services. Google has already released the December GPSU but it is yet to roll out to Galaxy devices. We expect the rollout to begin sometime later this month or in early 2025. As mentioned earlier, there is no pattern for these updates. The rollout may be delayed sometimes.
Meanwhile, Samsung is expanding the December 2024 security update to more Galaxy devices. The Galaxy S24 series has already received the latest security patch. Samsung is also expected to roll out the One UI 7.0 beta to other devices in the coming days. The stable version will arrive in early 2025 following the Galaxy S25 launch.
