If you have been following our One UI 7.0 beta coverage, you may have noticed an unusual “Secured by Knox” label in the app drawer. Positioned at the bottom right corner of the screen, just above the search bar, it seems out of place and unnecessary — and that’s because it is. Samsung has confirmed that this tiny watermark will be removed in the official version.
The final One UI 7.0 build won’t show the “Secured by Knox” label
The One UI 7.0 beta update brings a host of aesthetic updates, including redesigned app icons, an overhauled Quick Panel, smoother system animations and transitions, and a vertical app drawer. While these changes are generally well-received, Samsung also added an odd label to the new app drawer. The “Secured by Knox” watermark feels completely out of place.
When scrolling, the label even overlaps with app icons, making the UI feel crowded. While it doesn’t appear elsewhere, the fact that Samsung doesn’t allow users to remove it is a bit strange. We’re all aware that Galaxy phones are secured by Samsung’s award-winning Knox platform, but there’s no need for the constant display of this label in the app drawer.
Thankfully, Galaxy users won’t have to deal with it forever. Samsung says this bizarre label will go away on the final One UI 7.0 build. This likely means subsequent beta versions will have it too, but not the official version. Samsung is expected to roll out the official One UI 7.0 update in late January or early February next year.
Ahead of that, the company will release a few more beta builds. The second beta update could arrive as early as this week. Over the next few weeks, Samsung could expand the beta program to more devices beyond the Galaxy S24 series. Some foldables and mid-range models should also receive a few beta updates before the stable release in 2025.
