Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6 Get December Update with Critical Android Fixes

by | Dec 5, 2024 | Galaxy Z, News, Updates

While we wait for One UI 7.0 beta, Samsung has started rolling out the December security update. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are the first two phones to receive this month’s security patch. The company will soon start pushing the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) to other eligible models.

Samsung rolls out the December update to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6

The December security update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 is initially rolling out in Samsung’s home country, South Korea. The former is receiving the update with the firmware build number F956NKSS2AXKC, while the latter is getting the build number F741NKSS2AXKC. The download size for both models weighs just over 370MB.

The two foldables are receiving nothing more than this month’s security fixes. Samsung has already detailed the December SMR for the Galaxy family. It patches 44 vulnerabilities, including six critical Android OS fixes and two Exynos patches. The update also addresses issues in Samsung DeX, SmartSwitch, and Settings.

Samsung will gradually roll out these security fixes to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and other devices globally. You should receive a notification once the update hits your Galaxy phone or tablet. You can also manually check for updates from the Settings app — navigate to the Software update menu and tap Download and install

However, many Galaxy users would be waiting for Samsung to release the One UI 7.0 beta rather than the December security patch. Rumors suggest the beta program could begin anytime now for the Galaxy S24 series. Other models may join the party next week.

The stable One UI 7.0 update isn’t arriving until late January or early February 2025. Samsung will release the stable build with the Galaxy S25 series, which is rumored to debut in the second half of January. Considering all the delays lately, we wouldn’t be surprised if the new flagships face a delay too. We will keep you posted.
