Switching to a Samsung Galaxy from an iPhone may soon get easier thanks to Google’s updated Android Switch app. This update allows users to easily transfer their Live Photos from iPhones to Android devices, making the switch even more seamless.
Google’s enhanced transfer features make the iPhone to Android switch hassle-free
Android Switch is a new app from Google designed to simplify phone switching from an iPhone to an Android phone. In fact, it simplifies data transfer and setup processes even when you switch from Android to Android. Formerly part of the Data Transfer Tool, it is now available as a standalone app. The upgraded version offers more versatility for an enhanced user experience.
Google recently added support for Live Photos transfer from iPhone. This function is currently limited to Pixel phones, i.e., you can transfer Live Photos only when switching from an iPhone to a Pixel. However, Paul Dunlop, the Product Lead for Android Onboarding, recently confirmed that it is coming to more devices soon.
“Right now, Live Photos is available through Android Switch on all Pixels,” Dunlop responded when Android expert Mishaal Rahman asked about the feature. “We’ll be expanding access to the feature over the next few weeks to more devices.” Since Galaxy devices use the same app for transferring data when switching from an iPhone, support for Live Photos may be available down the line.
