November Update Live for Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6

by | Nov 20, 2024 | Galaxy Z, News, Updates

Samsung has begun pushing the November 2024 security update to its latest foldable models. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are initially receiving this month’s security patch in South Korea. The company should soon roll out the update in other markets, including the US.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 get Samsung’s November update

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are getting the November SMR (Security Maintenance Release) later than some older foldables. However, their updates are substantially bigger. The official changelogs do not mention many new things but the OTA (over the air) firmware size suggests otherwise.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6’s November update arrives with firmware version F956NKSU2AXK8, while the Flip 6 receives version F741NKSU2AXK8. Both models are getting OTA packages weighing over 1GB. The changelog says the devices are receiving system stability improvements alongside the latest security fixes.

While Samsung doesn’t specify, the foldables could be picking up Auto Blocker enhancements. The November SMR brought stricter USB restrictions to many Galaxy devices. When set to maximum security, Auto Blocker now blocks all USB connections except for charging. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 might be getting it too.

As far as the security patches are concerned, the November SMR contains fixes for over 50 vulnerabilities affecting the Android operating system and Galaxy-specific features. While no vulnerabilities are rated as “critical” this month, installing the update is highly recommended to ensure protection against potential threats.

This might be the last update for these foldables before Samsung rolls out One UI 7.0 beta. The company is expected to open beta programs this month itself, though it hasn’t confirmed anything. We will let you know when we have more information. In the meantime, install the November patch to prepare your foldable for the next feature update. You can check for updates from the Settings app.
