Samsung has added the Galaxy S24 FE to its list of devices receiving the November 2024 security update. Several Galaxy models have already received this update, and the latest Fan Edition handset is now joining them. For the time being, the update is available to the US only, but Samsung will roll it out globally soon.
Galaxy S24 FE grabs Samsung’s November update
Currently, the November 2024 security update is available for carrier-locked models of the Galaxy S24 FE in the US. The update was first released to devices on Verizon’s network. The device is picking up the firmware build number S721USQS3AXK3, which confirms a security patch with no added features.
However, the phone does get the Auto Blocker enhancements that Samsung pushed to many other devices the the November patch. It lets you block USB connections when Auto Blocker restrictions are set to Maximum. You can use the USB port to charge the device and nothing more. Even wired Android Auto doesn’t work.
Of course, the update includes the latest Android security patch aimed at improving the device’s security and stability. The November 2024 Security Maintenance Release (SMR) for the Galaxy family addresses 52 vulnerabilities affecting the Android operating system and Galaxy-specific features.
While none of the vulnerabilities are rated as “critical” this month, we strongly recommend installing the update as soon as possible to enhance device performance and safeguard against potential threats. Samsung will soon release the November SMR for factory-unlocked Galaxy S24 FE units in the US and begin a global rollout.
This Fan Edition model is eligible for seven Android OS updates. It debuted with Android 14 and will receive features up to Android 21. Samsung is currently readying the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update for Galaxy devices. It may begin a beta program later this month, with the stable version coming in January 2025.
