If you regularly use the Samsung Notes app, you might be aware of a recent issue affecting its performance. As several users have reported, the app occasionally crashes when using the drawing feature. The search function also sometimes fails to work in certain notes. Samsung has finally acknowledged the bugs and announced that a fix will be available through an upcoming update. In the meantime, here’s a temporary workaround.
Temporary fixes for search and drawing problems in Samsung Notes
Over the past few days, several Galaxy users have reported issues with the search and drawing functions in Samsung Notes. The search tool fails to work in some notes, while the app crashes when using the drawing tool. The problems exist on Galaxy devices running the One UI 6 with Android 14.
Samsung recently took to its official community forum to share a temporary fix for the search issue. According to a forum moderator, creating copies of notes where search doesn’t work fixes the problem. On the Notes homepage, press and hold the note where the search tool doesn’t work until it is selected. Now tap the More button in the bottom right corner and select “Duplicate note”.
This will create a copy of the note, which will appear alongside the original version. The search function should work properly on the copied note. You may delete the original one if you wish to. Repeat the step for every note that has issues with the search function.
As for the app crashing when using the drawing or painting tool, there’s no temporary fix for it. Samsung says it is working on addressing the problem. The next update for Samsung Notes should fix both issues for once and all. While we don’t yet have a timeline for its release, you can check for updates in the Galaxy Store.
