Geekbench confirms Galaxy S25 has Snapdragon 8 Elite and 12GB RAM
There have been contrasting reports about Samsung’s RAM strategy for the Galaxy S25 series, particularly the base model. While some suggested a standard 12GB RAM, others claimed an 8GB variant would also be available — or even that a 12GB version wouldn’t exist at all. However, Geekbench has now confirmed that the phone will indeed receive a RAM upgrade to 12GB, debunking the speculation.
The Galaxy S25’s Korean version (model number SM-S931N) recently surfaced on the benchmarking platform with Android 15, 12GB RAM, and an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite. While this doesn’t necessarily confirm that an 8GB RAM variant doesn’t exist, there is no evidence supporting its existence either. Rumors suggest Samsung may have planned a RAM upgrade to bolster the phone’s AI capabilities.
Some rumors have also hinted at Samsung potentially shipping the Galaxy S25 and S25+ with its in-house Exynos 2500. The latter was recently spotted on Geekbench with the Exynos processor. However, the latest sighting indicates the Snapdragon 8 Elite will power the entire lineup globally. Poor 3nm yields have reportedly forced the company to cancel the Exynos plans and go all-in with Snapdragon.
Samsung will use an overclocked 8 Elite in its new flagships. While the standard version offers a peak speed of 4.32GHz, the Galaxy S25’s Snapdragon chip operates at 4.47GHz. The new processor is expected to deliver groundbreaking AI and camera enhancements alongside massive GPU and CPU performance boosts. The Galaxy S25 series may go official on January 22, 2025.
