Samsung is rapidly rolling out the Tizen 8 update, featuring the One UI theme, to its 2023 TV models. After an initial rollout in Canada, India, the UK, and a few other markets, the big update is now available widely across Europe. It should soon reach additional markets, including the US.
Tizen 8 update for 2023 Samsung TVs rolling out widely
The Tizen 8 update is now available for 2023 Samsung TV users in several European countries, including the Netherlands. It’s a major OS update from Tizen 7 and that’s reflected by a substantial jump in firmware version from 2000 to 2013. According to SamMobile, some TV models such as the 2023 Neo QLED TVs may show version 6500 instead of the new version number.
With this update, Samsung TVs are getting the One UI design language for a consistent user experience across its products. The new design aligns more closely with One UI on Galaxy phones and smartwatches, including rounder app icons. Of course, Tizen 8 also brings a host of new features and enhancements. Aesthetic upgrade is just part of a myriad of changes to look forward to.
One major addition to Samsung TVs with this update is the Samsung Daily+ tab, which provides quick access to features like SmartThings, Map View, Ring My Phone, fitness apps, exercises, and Philips Hue. Samsung recently teamed up with F45 Training to bring more health and fitness content to the big screen. The update also refreshes the Quick Settings and Connected Devices panels for easier navigation.
The redesigned Home Screen combines tabs like “For You,” “Live,” and “App,” making it easier for users to access content and apps as desired. Additional features include Watch Later, Search, Multi Control, and SmartThings, among others. Samsung recently dropped a major hint at an incoming Tizen 9 update for its TVs. The new version could arrive sometime next year with enhanced security features.
