Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition a Hit in China, Sold Out Within Hours

by | Nov 7, 2024 | Galaxy Z, News

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is proving to be a major success. The sleek new foldable has already sold out twice in the home country of South Korea. The company has now launched the device in China, and it quickly sold out there as well. The initial stock ran out within just a few hours of release. Samsung has yet to announce when the next batch will be available in China.

Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sold out within hours in China

Samsung made the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (SE) primarily for China, where the Galaxy Z Fold 6 stands no chance against local players. All Chinese foldables are substantially slimmer and lighter than the Fold 6. The SE goes after those with a slimmer build, with Samsung removing the S Pen and digitizer to make it thin and lightweight. The new model is also bigger and looks more premium.

After initially releasing it in its homeland, the Korean firm recently opened Galaxy Z Fold SE sales in China, where it’s called the Samsung W25. It released limited stock, and those sold out in no time. According to reports, the first batch ran out of stock within just three hours. The Samsung W25 Flip, the Chinese version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, has also sold out in the country.

Samsung offers both foldables in special colors in China, including a ceramic back for the Galaxy Z Fold SE. They also run the most advanced One UI software. While it is still Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1, the devices ship with next-gen Bixby which is not available on any other Samsung phone. The Korean firm might bring the upgraded Bixby to other devices with the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update. Beta testing is expected to begin later this month, while the stable version is set to arrive in early 2025.
