After expanding the Fold lineup with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition this year, Samsung might launch a second Flip model in 2025. It is reportedly working on a more affordable clamshell foldable, tentatively called the Galaxy Z Flip FE. The company has already confirmed that it is exploring ways to lower the entry barrier for its foldable phones.
Samsung has a second Galaxy Z Flip model planned for 2025
Samsung released its first foldable smartphone in 2019, the book-style Galaxy Fold. In 2020, the company launched the second-gen Galaxy Z Fold 2 and expanded its portfolio with the Galaxy Z Flip-series clamshell foldable. This year, it introduced a third model, the limited edition Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Another expansion may be on the cards for 2025.
There have been rumors that Samsung might launch a second Flip next year. However, while some reports said it will be a more affordable version, others hinted at an advanced model. A Samsung executive also said the firm has no plans to make cheaper foldables as it prioritizes user experience. But it said something else in its recent earnings report, which also named the Galaxy S25 and an XR headset.
The Korean conglomerate confirmed it is exploring ways to make foldables more affordable for the masses. Now, a report on the Korean online forum Naver hints at a cheaper Galaxy Z Flip FE. No details are available, so we can’t confirm how Samsung will reduce the entry price. It may be able to cut costs on the cover screen, cameras, and a few other areas.
The alleged Galaxy Z Flip SE is expected to debut alongside the regular Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7. Samsung might also introduce the second-gen Fold SE (Special Edition) at the same time. If true, the Flip FE will be the cheapest Galaxy foldable next year, with the Flip 7, Fold 7, and Fold SE 2 (or whatever it is called) sitting above it in that order. Expect more details to emerge in the coming months.
