How to Enable the Hidden Labs Menu in My Files

Samsung has just released an update for the My Files app that includes this hidden Labs menu. Here’s how to get it and what it offers:

 

Step 1: Download the Latest Version

    1. Head Over to APKMirror: This update isn’t available on the Galaxy Store yet, so you’ll need to download it from APKMirror. The version you’re looking for is 15.04.6. APKMirror is a reputable source in the Android community, but always do your own research to ensure you’re downloading from a trusted site.
    2. Install the APK: Once downloaded, install the APK on your Samsung device. Make sure you have enabled the option to install apps from unknown sources in your settings.

    Step 2: Enable the Labs Menu

    2. Access Settings: Tap on the three dots in the upper right corner to open the settings menu.
    3. Go to About My Files: Scroll down and select “About My Files.”
    4. Activate Labs: Repeatedly tap on the “My Files” text logo at the top until you see a message saying “Enable My Files Labs.”
    5. Return to Main Screen: Go back to the main screen of the My Files app.

    Permanently Delete Option

    • Description: Allows you to delete files permanently instead of sending them to the trash bin.
    • How to Use: When deleting a file, check the “Permanently Delete” box. This skips the trash bin step, directly removing the file.

    History Data

    • Description: Shows which apps are occupying storage space.
    • How to Use: Enable this feature and grant usage data access to the My Files app to see detailed storage usage.

    File Operation History

    • Description: Keeps track of your file interactions such as moving, copying, and deleting files.
    • How to Use: Turn on this feature to monitor your file operations.

    Media Files in Pending Status

    • Description: Displays media files that are currently downloading or in a pending status.
    • How to Use: Check this option to keep track of ongoing media file downloads.
