After the Galaxy S24, Samsung has started pushing the November security update to the Galaxy S23 lineup. The 2023 flagships are now receiving the latest security patch in the US. The company will soon roll out the update in other markets. The Galaxy S24 is also yet to receive the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) globally.
November update is rolling out to the Galaxy S23 series in the US
The Galaxy Tab S7 FE was the first to receive Samsung’s November 2024 security update. The company recently released the new SMR for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra in the US. The flagship trio picked up the update on carrier-locked units on Verizon’s network. Their predecessors are now joining the party, with Verizon users once again getting the headstart.
Locked Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra on Verizon are receiving the update with the firmware build number S91*USQS5CXI8. “The current software update provides the most up to date Android security patches on your device,” the official changelog of the carrier’s website states. There are no additional changes or features, which isn’t surprising as the devices recently received One UI 6.1.1.
Samsung has yet to publish its November security bulletin, so we can’t confirm the vulnerabilities fixed this month. As usual, the update should address dozens of Android OS issues alongside a handful of Galaxy-specific flaws. These SMRs for Galaxy devices always bundle Android OS patches from Google, ensuring maximum security of your phone with timely patches.
The Korean firm will soon roll out the November update for the Galaxy S23 and S24 phones globally. These phones are also expected to receive Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 beta update later this month. We will keep you posted with the latest information on One UI 7.0 and the November security patches for the Galaxy family, so stay tuned.
