Galaxy Note 20, Tab Active 3 Receive October Update in the US

by | Oct 30, 2024 | Galaxy Tab, News, Updates

A few days ago, Samsung released the October security update for the Galaxy Note 20 series. Following an initial rollout in Europe, the update is now available in the US. The company is also pushing this month’s security fixes to the Galaxy tab Active 3 stateside. It has already started rolling out the November patch for eligible models.

October update reaches Galaxy Note 20 and Tab Active 3 in the US

Samsung’s October security update, aka Security Maintenance Release (SMR) patches over 40 vulnerabilities, including at least seven critical flaws. Some Exynos flaws patched this month are being actively exploited by threat actors, posing a serious security threat to users of the affected models. Thankfully, the company has already released the patch for dozens of devices globally.

The GalaxyNote 20 and Note 20 Ultra picked it up in Europe last week. Samsung has since released the update in other international markets and now crossed borders to the US. Both carrier-locked and unlocked variants of the last Note-branded Galaxy flagships are receiving the new SMR stateside. The updated firmware build numbers are N98*USQSAHXJ1 and N98*U1UESAHXJ1, respectively.

The Galaxy Tab Active 3 is also widely receiving the October security update in the US. The update for this rugged Android tablet comes with the build number T577UUESBEXJ3. The changelog is the same for all of these devices. Samsung is pushing nothing more than the aforementioned 40-odd security fixes. There aren’t any new features or improvements in tow, which isn’t surprising.

As said earlier, Samsung has already started rolling out the November SMR to Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Tab S7 FE started the proceedings earlier today. More smartphones and tablets will received the update in the coming days. The company has yet to detail the patch. We expect it to share the updated security bulletin early next week. We will let you know when we have vulnerability details.
