OpenAI has launched a native ChatGPT app for Windows computers, including Samsung Galaxy Books. The app is available to download from the company’s official website or the Microsoft Store. It currently requires a paid subscription but free users will also get access later this year. OpenAI already offers a native ChatGPT app for Android phones, iPhones, and Apple MacBooks.
You can now use the native ChatGPT app on your Galaxy Book
ChatGPT has significantly impacted the tech and AI landscape since its inception. This advanced language model developed by OpenAI leverages deep learning techniques to understand and generate human-like text, making it a powerful tool for various applications. Its groundbreaking debut in late 2022 started an AI revolution that’s still in a very nascent stage, with a lot more still to come.
OpenAI offers mobile apps for ChatGPT for easy access on phones. It also launched a native app for macOS earlier this year. However, if you wanted to use the AI tool on your Windows-powered computer, you had to visit the website or use a barebones app that was basically a wrapper for the website. OpenAI is finally changing this with the release of an “early version” for paid users.
ChatGPT users with a Plus, Team, Enterprise, or Edu subscription can download the app on their Windows computer. The app offers access to OpenAI o1-preview, the newest and smartest model. It supports file and photo upload and can be opened with a keyboard shortcut (Alt + Spacebar). The current version lacks voice input but OpenAI may add the feature later as it’s an “early version”. The company plans to make the app available for all later this year, offering a “full experience”. We will let you know when it arrives.
