Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition foldable smartphone in the near future. The device is expected to arrive as a slimmer variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 handset. While the company is yet to reveal the launch date of the phone, the leaks suggest an unveiling on October 18. We’ve already seen the alleged photos of the upcoming foldable. Now, the purported Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition was spotted on the Samsung Galaxy Store.

Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition unexpectedly shows up on the Galaxy Store

An X user who goes by the user name @OreXda spotted a listing for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition on the Galaxy Store. Unfortunately, apart from revealing the name, the listing didn’t mention anything about the launch date of the device. Also, the placeholder didn’t reveal anything about the specs of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Since the device has appeared on the Galaxy Store, we can expect it to launch very soon.

Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition’s design has already been leaked

A few weeks ago, the first photo of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition surfaced online. The image suggested that the handset will resemble the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, it will be slimmer. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will still offer a flat frame, but with slightly rounded corners. Also, the phone will still offer a camera island with three cameras at the rear. However, the camera island will have a slightly different square shape.

Furthermore, the leak revealed that the camera island will be much thicker than the one on the Z Fold 6. Samsung may be utilizing a more protruding camera module to keep the overall thickness down. In addition, the leaked photo suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will have a brushed metal back. The power button will double as a fingerprint sensor.

If the reports are to be believed, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will be 10.6mm thick when folded. When unfolded, the device will measure just 4.9mm around the waist. For comparison, the Z Fold 6 is 5.6mm thick when open and 12.1mm thick when folded.

Unfortunately, not many details regarding the exact hardware features of the special edition are available at the moment. However, we can expect the rumor mill to slim more details in the coming days, so stay tuned.
