More One UI 7 Changes Revealed Before December Beta Release

by | Oct 7, 2024 | News, One UI

One UI 7 may breathe new life into Samsung’s custom Android skin. While the company isn’t rolling out the beta update anytime soon, we caught a glimpse of it at SDC last week. From redesigned Quick Panel and notifications shade to updated UI elements and system menus, a lot has changed. Here are a few more visual enhancements coming to your Galaxy phone with One UI 7.

Some of the One UI 7 changes spotted at SDC 2024

Last week, we gave you an early look at the new app icons in One UI 7. Samsung has redesigned the icons for most of its first-party apps. An X user recently posted a close-up of the new icon for Gallery, comparing it with the current icon. As you can see below, the company has refreshed the icon for its default photo viewer with vibrant colors, which are reflected in the opening and closing animations.

The same source also shared an image revealing that One UI 7 displays the cellular network standard even when your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network. The current One UI version displays the network standard only when you are using mobile data. It’s hidden when you switch to a Wi-Fi network. The change lets you see whether you are on a 4G or 5G connection even if you aren’t on mobile data.

In the image above, you can see Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E labeled accordingly. We can confirm that One UI 7 labels Wi-Fi 5 too. One UI 6 only labels Wi-Fi 6 and higher standards. Meanwhile, the video below shows the default task changer on the upcoming update. It looks sleeker and more smooth. Samsung is focused on making the Galaxy experience smoother than ever with One UI 7.

Last but not least, The update will add icons for bottom navigation buttons — Pictures, Albums, Stories, and Menu — in the Gallery app. A similar change is also coming to the phone/dialer app, and potentially apps like Clock and Wallet. One UI 7 beta arrives in December, with the Galaxy S25 series receiving the update first. It’s unclear if other models will get a beta program.
